The irony of creating this shirt and dropping it the same week that the Rotsun easily finished a 2,300 mile cross-country road trip is not lost on me.

However, the opportunity to celebrate David Freiburger’s and my return to Youtube was too good to pass up and because we were piloting least reliable 1971 Datsun 240Z ever conceived by mankind in our first new video together, well, this shirt just makes all the sense in the world.

If you’re unfamiliar with the origin of this well-earned reputation for excessive speed and unreliability then let me recount the past exploits into destruction via my favorite Z-car:

1. The Rotsun was leading its first autocross when the battery fell out of its mount and caught fire.

2. The Rotsun broke a rear stub axle while attempting to do a burnout on a wet and rainy day.

3. The Rotsun’s 4.3L V6 ate a lifter on the way home from a Goodguys event where it earned 8th place in the Autocross event.

4. The Rotsun’s V6 went nuclear hot while sitting still on an airport runway during filming of Roadkill.

5. The Rotsun’s V6 barely completed 24 laps in the 24 Hours of LeMons event because the headers broke, the carburetor vibrated loose, and the crankshaft broke in half, all the while being the fastest car down the front straightaway.

6. The Rotsun again went nuclear hot at Laguna Seca, Interstate 10, and I-15 in Las Vegas.

7. The Rotsun’s 5.0 V8 only went nuclear hot on days ending in the letter “Y”.

8. The Rotsun’s chinesium electric water pump failed three times.

9. The Rotsun’s custom aftermarket rear suspension and IRS continues to fall apart. In fact, although the car is currently parked 14 miles away from me now, I still think I can hear an audible “clunk” coming from the rearend.

Put simply, the Rotsun usually only runs long enough to give you a glimpse of its true potential and then it promptly kicks you in the junk for believing it was gonna be different this time. It’s an abusive relationship, Yes, but a spicy one, too, and that’s why we are never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down, never gonna turn around and desert you!
